Then Let 'em Leave

This extract is from a poem by Warsan Shire...The poet who was quoted in Beyoncé's Lemonade

I gravitated towards her poetry last summer on Instagram. And I'm pretty sure this image was shared on this blog or on my #GooglePlus page. It's a bit ridiculous how people have an overwhelming sudden reaction to words right after a celebrity's sworn by it's healing power. Nevertheless, we celebrate their indoctrination into the church of affirmative poetry.

Point is...words transcend. They cut through chapters, pages in your life no matter the gender or space in time. They inspire, unearth truths, massage hurts.

For me, these words meant something last summer. For Beyonce who knows when...for you, hopefully now. It ties with our new theme explored recently on the blog on Loving, Losing, Rejection, Affirmation - that you are better than the result of your sour love affair.

If they want to leave, by all means, let 'em leave...because we can do solo all by our pretty little selves.
